Keynote said two weeks to shipping. It clearly isn't.
Do you think they lied (seems doubtful - why would they)
Or there has been problems

Or is this usual for apple new products?

not many have
none shipped in uk/europe
few shops selling anywhere
You would've prefered Apple to say "a small number shipping only to the US in two weeks"? They said "shipping in two weeks" and they have been shipping in two weeks. Where's the lie?

no lie

when you bought the product on thier site it said 2-3 weeks when it "starts" to ship... that doesn't account for backlog of orders that happen in between
and Apple did do an offical press earlier this week that it did infact started shipping Airs

I bet they've shipped thousands already... (over a hundred Apple Stores... probably average 20 per store (less for small stores, huge amounts for NYC stores, etc)... plus hundreds of pre-orders are shipping...

And as with all similar product releases... when you say starts shipping, or give release dates for in demand products, you can't always satisfy demand on day one (and doing so would probably be bad business).

I think some explanation of why no shipments to europe have been made:

Apple should priority ship to europe, as it is us lot who pay the most for our Macs!!

$4000+ for the SSD Air!!

Whichever country has the largest market share would be receiving the macbook airs first I imagine. I don't see where the lie is here. A much better example would be the Apple TV... but even then I'd say calling it a 'lie' is a bit strong.

I don't think Apple owes you an apology/explanation for not shipping to Europe fast enough. I order products from Europe that take longer to get to Montreal (Canada) then they would take to get to Paris or London for example. It is to be expected.

That's life, you win some, you lose some and in 2 months you wont even care when you got it anymore...

You seem unclear on the concept of "lie."

Apple said "shipping in two weeks" and not "shipped to you in two weeks."

Agreed! I have a British motorcycle and it literally took more than a month to get a "special" key for the newest model since none were in-stock stateside. Sorry, but that's life and it works both ways.

okay lie is too strong

However is this the norm for apple releases?
My experience is pretty limited:
Iphone had an exact release date and was genuinely available from that date
The silver imac was available 'now' and was in the local store at the weekend after announcement

What were previous releases like?
