Hi

I was performing the surgery. I do not know how to reattach this connector? Or is it broken off?

Thanks for your speedy answer.

That looks to be the hard drive data cable. It connects to that four prong connection on the motherboard just to the left. Neither the cable or motherboard prongs appear to be broken. You just need to reconnect it by pushing the cable straight down on top of the prongs. If the cable is not long enough to reach it, you probably have part of it stuck underneath the hard drive.

That is the IR sensor cable and the front LED indicator. It will need to be re-soldered to the logic board.

Ok, I guess it is the IR sensor cable. There should be a set of prongs right below where the cable is on the motherboard. If those are not there, you broke them off and the only repair would be to have a technician try to solder it back in place.

What does this component do? What will no longer function?

IR function is (was) for the Apple remote and Front Row, if I remember correctly. It was simply meant for using the Mac mini as a HTPC.

If you ask me, it is not that important for the functioning.

But of course you need to test it for yourself, if the computer works witohut the attached/broken cable.

It does not impact the magic mouse?

The Apple Remote will no longer work.

No. The Magic Mouse uses Bluetooth, not Infrared.
oh ok. Luckily every important to me will function so.

I pushed and pushed but nothing happened. I ended up breaking two of those small golden tops. After I took the picture. But it would not connect before?
