did i give someone a really good deal??

well, i've sold my PowerBook on eBay, the transaction is all over and i'm just looking for some advice on how this auction went. just for future reference.

here's the link to my PB auction:

only got 1 bid, so it went for AU$1900. specs were:
PB 1.25GHz
1.5GB RAM
Brand new 80GB HD
SuperDrive, backlit keyboard, 9600, yadda yadda
Extras including unopened Mighty Mouse, Graphire2 tablet, iSkin keyboard protector

that was all good and fine, but then i saw this auction for a TiBoook.

specs for this were:
TiPB 800MHz
512MB RAM
40GB HD
Combo Drive, Radeon 7500, only with 1x power adapter & 1x power cord (none of the DVI cables, etc.)
only included extras were Hyka Mini Glo - 3 button USB optical mouse, new in box.)

and the TiBook has one fairly big scratch on the top, a few other marks, compared to my flawless PB.

so what happened? did i give someone a really good deal? or did someone give the TiBook owner a really good deal? :confused:

I'd say the price is fairly reasonable...
I sold my 15" 1.67Ghz w/128mb VRAm w/1.5GB Ram for $1850 CDN which works out to about 2200 AU.

For some ODD reason... the Ti Powerbooks re-sell reasonable higher than the Aluminums... Only advantage i see is that they can boot into OS 9.
 
hmmm... okay, then the price i got seems about right.

that's actually a pity about the TiBook resale value, i was hoping to pick one up for cheap and mod it. but looks like they're not so cheap! i guess people really do love the titanium. i've got to admit, when i had my TiBook 667, i absolutely loved it. the AlBooks really don't compare to them at all in terms of appearance and feel. i guess we'll see how the MacBook Pro will change things.
 
Another reason for why it might have gone so low is that you only have one feedback. Most people probably thought you are a scammer. Trying to sell an expensive item with only one feedback is not a good idea.
 
hrm... could be. but i said pickup was fine, maybe i should have offered my mobile number so people could actaully speak to me? and besides, i had to sell it them. i couldn't be bothered buying a stack of small items just to get some feedback. if only people could have seen that the feedback i had was from a PM G5 i bought not too long ago...

ah well. i wonder if it would have helped to start it at $1 and do the old "$1 NR!!!!" in the listing title? :D :p
 
Yeah, I saw that you mentioned pick up was fine and that does help but I still don't think it's enough because you could always give require payment before hand and then give a fake address. Personally I wouldn't trust a person selling an expensive computer even if they had 30 feedbacks. Many scammers these days buy a lot cheap items to boost up their feedback. That is why I always check if what they buy isn't just random junk.
 
ahwell. at least the buyer is hopefully happy that he got a good deal.

i should have mentioned in the listing that i was cb911 from the MacRumors forums. :D :p
