I am on a strict budget to pick up a Mini to be used primarily as an iTunes and photo server, with some DVD ripping and limited audio editing.

My choice came down to the $799 Mini with Apple wireless keyboard/trackpad, and a decent HP monitor, or the $799 Mini with a cheap no-name wireless keyboard and mouse, hooked up to my 42" plasma, with a Drobo and 2 TB of harddrives.

I went with the Drobo route and will pick up a monitor and Apple keyboard/trackpad down the road. Is this going to be a decent setup? FWIW I already have a Superdrive.

Thanks!

I guess it will. I am not a fan of drobo, but it is better then it used to be.

I don't see why this would not work. I'm running a 2010 mac mini server as my media / minecraft server. I run it headless and does the jun just fine. The server has twin 500 GB drives and has been enough room.
