The great state of Texas
Apple makes a big deal about store openings. They also put a lot of effort into design. Did the store impact your purchase of an Apple product? Would you feel the same if all they had were corner sections of Walmart? Maybe that's were Palm and Blackberry made there biggest mistake, fancy stores. Or does it come down to form and function. I noticed that Micorsoft and Samsung have followed the Apple model to a small degree.

Your pictures, although very nice, don't add to your post - your questions did not need any pictures. Unless you could show some other companies stores/retail spaces that you mentioned.

It's about Apple retail and the title is about MacBook Pro not the Mac Pro. I don't Like the Apple store so I won't step foot in one of them, If I were to buy a new Mac tomorrow it's be from the online store.

If I relied solely on my local Apple Store to make my buying decisions I would have probably switched to windows by now. They don't bother to listen to your questions and treat everybody like they have never seen an Apple product before. When they finally get around to understanding you have been using, hacking, modify Apple desktops going back to the original MacPlus, laptops, servers iphone, ipods, ipads and even Newtons you realize they don't know the answer to your questions and or actually several times have mis-stated the products specs.

My local Apple retail store is the place of last resort if I need anything or if I need to make a buying decision. I hate going there.

Not in the slightest, I go into my local Apple Store knowing what I want already. Try and get in and out with as little questions asked as possible.

They seem to think it strange that a mac mini 2009 with 8Gb RAM, SSD and a DroboPro for Storage makes a perfectly good iTunes/Elgato system, and why don't I feel the need to upgrade yet.

makes zero difference BUT

It's still important in an intangible way and is probably the reason that I'm loyal to them as a customer. Apple is a very intelligent company, though I do wish they'd stop advertising so much. Good companies don't need to advertise.

I did my research before going to the store. The apple store helped me insofar as I got to try the models I was interested in, but the design, layout and even the salesmen did not impact my purchase decisions.
