Did you switch to At&t just for Iphone?

I am switching two lines from Verizon. I called Verizon and asked if I could drop one of my two lines if I committed to two years on the one I was keeping. One of the lines just has 4 months to go and they insist on the full $175 cancelation fee. The other has a year and a half left anyway.
They said absolutely not even though I have been a good customer for 10 years and pay $100 per month for service. I am ahead by dropping BOTH and paying the hit. They are willing to do NOTHING to keep a long time loyal customer.
If I get that survey asking why I quit I will let them know they had the chance to keep my second line and they said NO.

When I buy an iPhone, I will happily stay with AT&T. I've been a Cingular/AT&T customer for more than two years now. My Sony phone and now my BlackBerry Pearl work beautifully wherever I've gone on personal and professional travel (U.S. and Canada only), and I am quite happy with the EDGE transmission speeds. Maybe that makes me the odd-person out, but ...
I already was with AT&T / Cingular for many years.
Quite honestly I still don't get it why the got such a bad rap.
They always been good to me, even when I had problems with activating the iPhone they took off a whole month worth of charges for my troubles, which was like $80+.
I also always have great coverage in NC.

I needed to switch carriers last June actualy and went with AT&T (then Cingular) just based on the rumor of Apple producing a phone and it being carried by them. Thankfully almost exactly a year later it worked out...it would have been a mess if Verizon decided to carry the iPhone instead.
Yup. I had AT&T for a few months in 2005 and left it because it was TERRIBLE

Left Verizon for AT&T. I liked Verizon... but they got really annoying these past few months.... all their spam txt messages and stuff about renewing contracts, etc. Also, I just find it really pompous of the Verizon CEO to think they don't need to worry about the iPhone. That's the first sign of a business in trouble, being too comfortable that you don't bother to forge ahead anymore.
Paid the ETF to switch from Verizon for the iPhone. To be fair, I hate Verizon worse than any other company on the planet. They make MS look wonderful.
I also left verizon, liked the service, didn't like that they load the stupid LG UI on every phone on top of the original UI, which make their phone slow as molasses and cripple BT. Luckily I had a one of first shipment of the RAZR V3c which was OBEX capable.

I left Sprint. Never had any issues with them other than they kept contacting me to sign up for more of their services other than just the phone. I declined every time because trying to use the internet was just so user-unfriendly and I wasn't willing to pay for it. Now to have a phone that works how I think for the most part, has wi-fi and everything else... and works with my mac-centric life..was an easy decision. My 12yr old daughter was fully cruising the phone/internet/photos/google maps seconds after touching the device. I am curious to see the numbers that come out about how many users the various other companies lost and are losing to this great device.
I too have switched 2 of my 4 family lines from verizon to ATT. Verizon has a great network but severly limits the functionality on most of their phones...Ive been waiting for them to update my treo 700 or at least bring out their version of the treo 750 for months, every other carrier has the 750but verizon. So when the Iphone came out, I gladly switched...Im loving my iphone, i was never a big text sender before, but now I enjoy sending text to my wife and my son.
East coast. That's why.
Cingular's west coast coverage is horrible. Worst in the my area between T-Mobile and Verizon.
