Launching terminal, I got this message:

The default interactive shell is now zsh.
To update your account to use zsh, please run `chsh -s /bin/zsh`.

I had to google what zsh is, I'm so out of touch. Have you switched to zsh? Any cons versus bash?

I’ve been using Fish shell recently, but Zsh (and the oh-my-zsh config) is a good shell.

Might go back now it’s the standard shell.

Is there a downside to not upgrading out account to this new default ? And all I have to do up update my account is typing the command terminal tell me to do ?

The link in the article in the original post tells you how to suppress that message that keeps popping up if you decide not to upgrade.

The disadvantage is you don’t get access to supposedly better and improved zsh features. The downside is if you have scripts they may need to be changed because it’s not 100% compatible with bash.

An option is missing from the poll :)

I was using zsh long before Apple made it the default. Together with Oh My ZSH it is pretty awesome. So not a case of if it is good enough for Apple, more a case of if it is good enough for the Cyb3rDud3 then it is good enough for Apple 🤣

How do I use/choose Oh-my-ZSH? Obviously I know nothing about how to do anything in terminal.

Ah... Then can I just leave it the way I have right now in Terminal?

Thanks much.

Wow, I'm surprised that we don't have more people on the forum who love bash.
I anticipate using bash for decades to come. I can't imagine moving onto another shell.
Of course, I also use other oldies but goodies, e.g., I type almost *everything* in emacs.
