Big news: Android-powered Lumia incoming, from Nokia by Microsoft

If true, I'm disappointed. I want Google services on my WP, but not the damn OS! If Microsoft does this, they must be throwing in the towel and getting Android for the market share numbers.

Saw that on Winbeta too....

For months we have been speculating what Microsoft plans to do with its latest Android handsets. Last month the company launched Nokia X2, the update to its Nokia X lineup that run on Android. Now, according to a new leak by prolific leakster, Evleaks, Microsoft is planning to put Android on its premium Lumia handsets with the Nokia by Microsoft branding.

Nokia unveiled its X lineup, the X, X+, and XL handsets that run Android at the Mobile World Congress earlier this year. However, none of the devices possessed high-end hardware -- as compared to the phones that we see in the Lumia lineup. However, that might change soon, as Microsoft is rumored to be introducing Lumia handsets with Android OS on them.

For a refresher, Nokia X utilizes the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) but lacks Google Mobile Services -- a set of key features that you would find in a normal Android-powered smartphone. The company instead promotes its own, as well as Microsoft services. Are you excited about Android-powered Lumia devices? Would you consider getting one of those now?
