iPad mini Difference between 2012 Smart Cover model MD970LL/A and 2013 model MF060LL/A?

There are two Smart Covers... 2012 Smart Cover model MD970LL/A and 2013 model MF060LL/A ... anyone know what updates\enhancements were made in a year? The only thing I can notice between the photos is the 2013 model looks like the interior felt is a bit darker blue.

Anyone?
 
The 2012 is for the old style iPad mini in the colors they had the 2013 is for the iPad mini retina with the new colors
 
I think the only real difference is colors. I haven't read about any design or dimension tweaks. I'm currently using the old dark gray Smart Cover on my new iPad mini retina.

I'm doing the same thing. I never had the original mini, but when I went to go get the rMini, best buy was still selling the dark gray. I liked it the best, even over the new colors. Glad best buy still had the old covers. I don't believe the apple stores do anymore.

Actually, the 2012 Blue and the 2013 blue covers are different colors. The 2012 blue is more baby blue, and the 2013 blue is more dark. Not to attach genders to colors here, but if one could consider the 2012 a "girly" color, the 2013 blue is much less so.

I got an open box on eBay for $18 and the dark gray looks really good with the space gray back, even better than black imho.

from what I see, it looks like the blue is the same. the inside felt is darker but the outside blue looks to be the same color.

I also have the dark gray Smart Cover with the Space Gray rMini. It's a nice match. I have a clear Poetic Thinshell on the way for the back protection.

I have last years blue and this years. I can assure you they are not the same color inside or outside.

Same here. I actually purchased the dark gray smart cover before I picked up my rMini, but it still fits perfectly. Like everyone else said, the colors are the only thing different.
