Is there any easy way to tell whether I have a dead pixel or something under my screen? I have a small dot that shows up no matter what color I test the screen with (but is obviously harder to see with darker colors).

Place your mouse pointer on the dot and look at it from different angles. If its position changes relative to the pointer, it's dust. I have a speck on mine stuck between the LCD and backlight. It's about the size of 5 or 6 pixels and is medium-gray in color.
Ok well I think it is a spec of something. Has anyone had any luck getting this fixed at the Apple Store? I would rather not send this iMac back as it's already my 3rd one and this is the only thing bothering me.
I'm in the same spot. I think I'll casually ask a Genius if it would be covered next time I visit an Apple Store. I really don't want to send back this otherwise-perfect machine.
I'm thinking it will be covered since these panels are supposed to be sealed.
I had a couple of dust particles. I took it back to where I bought it and it took them less than 5 minutes to pop off the glass cover, clean both the inside of the glass and the screen itself and reinstall the glass.
I bought my iMac from the online Apple Store. Can I just take mine to the nearest Apple Store and have them do this (1 hour away) or should I call first before I go?
