OTB mystery

I do not work for OTB ;) ... but this is what I understand...

OTB is "out of the box". If your phone is 1.1.2 OTB, it means it was on 1.1.2 when you unboxed it. It yours is NOT 1.1.2 OTB, then it means that you UPGRADED it to 1.1.2 from whatever the earlier version was.

Mine is NOT 1.1.2 OTB, and my modem firmware version is 04.02.13_G. But I cannot say what difference that makes.

I read on some post somewhere that there's something called a boot-loader version. If the version is old, then you can use sotware-based unlocking utilities. If it is newer, you don't have any option other than hardware-based unlocking utilities. Like either using a double-sim, or cranking your iphone open.

That could mean that non OTB 1.1.2 phones have an older boot-loaders, and so you can software-unlock them. But I am not very sure of that.

So, now you at least know what OTB is, and why it is so important in your daily life.

that's funny, apple doesn't sell to mobile wholesalers.
don't get annoyed with people here, the information you've given us tells us nothing, there's no way to tell if you're running 1.1.2, 1.1.2 OTB or even 1.1.3 now with the dev teams jailbreak since it leaves the modem firmware at 04.02.13_G

the bootloader is how you can tell 1.1.2 vs. 1.1.2 OTB

come back when you know enough to unlock and resell yourself.

My phone showed version 04.02.13_G when i freshly unpacked it out of the box. So, i guess it is otb. Is there another way to know if it is otb or UPGRADED it to 1.1.2 from whatever the earlier version was? I need to know this since i need to unlock the phone but dont want to open the phone to testpoint it....

If it's 04.02.13_G out of box then it's 1.1.2 out of box.

So, what versions does it show if it is out of the box but not otb and can be unlocked without testpoint? Please bear with my questions, i am completly new to the iphone world..

Out of the box and otb are the same thing.

Only 1.1.1 (and earlier) otb can be unlocked with software.

Without using test points:
1.1.2 otb can be unlocked with a SIM sandwich (StealthSIM, TurboSIM, etc.) provided it hasn't been upgraded to 1.1.3 using iTunes.
1.1.3 can't currently be unlocked.
