Differences in Ram

Im just in the process of upgrading the ram and harddrive in my macbook, i was just wondering if there is a huge difference in brands of ram sold by different websites. For example Crucials 2gb kit http://www.crucial.com/eu/store/listparts.aspx?model=MacBook+2%2E0GHz+Intel+Core+Duo+%2813%2Dinch+White%29
and memoryc.ie's 2gb kit which is by patriot http://www.memoryc.ie/products/description/2Gb_Patriot_DDR2_SO_DIMM_PC2_5300_667MHz_CL5_Dual_Channel_kit-2x_1Gb_/index.html
there is about 20 euro in the difference which I am willing to pay if there is going to be a difference. Could anyone offer any advice on this?

I guess the only difference is that most people think that Crucial is a better manufacturer. I honestly don't know any differences...I'll let others weigh in.

I use 2 x 1 GB of Partiot RAM and it works just fine.

Get the cheapest if there is any difference between the two it would be indiscernible.

Generally people buy different brands of RAM so they can overclock it more/ its more durable. But I doubt either these factors will come into play for you.

I recommend you get the cheapest compatible RAM from a reputable vendor who guarantees compatibility with your specific machine, and who offers a lifetime warranty and a no cost return (no shipping, no restocking) if it doesn't work.

If you get RAM that the seller doesn't state Mac compatibility on, the testing is down to you, as is the expense of returning it if it doesn't work. If you are comfortable with working on your Mac, you may be willing to take the risk generic RAM to save $10, many new Mac owners would prefer the security of knowing it will work and it is backed by the vendor.

That is solid advice. I used www.ramseeker.com to find RAM for my MB CD, iBook, and aging Sawtooth.

Im using both brands in my PMG5 . I been using the 2gigs of patriot ram for over a year and a half and the other 2gigs of crucial since last week. So far so good...
Plus I have some crucial memory on my g4 imac (about 4 years in it).

I just replaced one of the two 1gb Patriot sticks in my Macbook Pro with a 2gb stick from OWC. Memtested for a long time, and all is well.

I figure since most of the ram comes from the same handful of far east factories, its all about the reseller standing behind the sale.
