Differences on 27' iMacs after mid July update

I'm about to buy the 27' iMac and I have a couple of questions I really hope you can help me with.

I have the option to buy the old imac before the update and the new one. It's the i5 QC in both cases.

Is there any difference besides the ghz and the graphics card between the imacs?

What graphics card is the best? The one with 1 GB og 512 MB?

I would just go with the newer version.

Also, I think your best value is either going top of the line with the i7 or bottom of the 27in line with the i3. It all depends on what you are doing with it.

If you need the extra power for games or intensive applications like after effects or maya then get it otherwise save your money

Well, I will not use any intensive programming apps or anything like that. Music apps and maybe Photoshop once in a while.

Besides that, I will use it for school and gaming. By gaming, I mean just playing new games that I'm interested in once in a while. I only play the single player part and delete them afterwards.

I will get the old with i5 for the same price as I would pay for the new i3.

So is the i5 not enough for my use?

the biggest difference would be the graphics card. 5750 (mobility 5850) is 10-20% faster than 4850 (mobility 4850) depending on game.

I don't know what the (mobility 4850) means, but but does this mean that 4750 is better than 4850?

Sorry, I meant to put mobility 5850 in parenthesis after 5750 in my last post, instead of mobility 4850.

The mobility 5850 in the new iMac is 10-20% faster than the mobility 4850 in the previous gen iMac. They're in parenthesis because that is what the iMac's gpus actually are. Apple chooses to market them as desktop cards.

My bad, I thought the new came with 4570 1GB and the old had 4850 512MB.

But 10-20% depending on the game is not that much of a difference is it?

And is it with 20 % faster with heavy games, or does it not work that way?
