I was wondering if there was a way to hear different tones for notifications. For now, a text, Facebook, and whatever other app I get plays the same sound when it sends me a notification. If it isn't possible to customize the sounds within iOS 5, is there an app that will help me with this?

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 4S: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

If you go into Settings --> Sounds you'll find several different things you can change the sounds for.

Also look into each apps settings under the Settings app and see if they allow customization as well.

To be more specific, the notification I am using is Facebook. There are no options in the app's settings, and in the sounds settings, there isn't a setting. The phone treats it as a text.

You can't change the Facebook one because Facebook doesn't allow it. The developer of the Facebook app has to put an option - which they haven't.

Thanks. I just realized that Words with Friends has its on notification sound. So, I guess it is an individual app decision. Another Facebook problem: turning off notifications for comments made after you on other people's posts. Facebook has got some work to do.

Well, Facebook doesn't use the same sound as the text message. It uses the Tri-Tone sound, so all I had to do is change the text message notification sound. Problem solved! Now, I won't rush to my phone thinking I have a text and then realizing that it is just Facebook notifying me that someone commented on something no which I commented, which was probably something stupid....
