I have a site that I go to that will not work with Safari. Is it possible to put a different browser on the iPhone, such as Firefox?

I wasn't kidding. I think Apple should make other browsers available for iPhones. I own a mac and I love it, but sometimes some sites won't work with Safari so I use Firefox.

Is this site Flash? If so...that's why it doesn't work. We'll probably get Flash sometime, but that's an Adobe issue more than an Apple issue from what I understand.

I doubt we'll see other browsers anytime soon. Don't really need one, if they just get Safari running well.

Aside from the lack of an SDK, which obviously isnt that limiting, its not Apple's fault if there are no alternate browsers. That blame lies with the other programmers who haven't ported them over. MobileSafari is good enough that other browsers may never be ported over.

No, the fault lies with Apple for not making the iPhone open for 3rd party applications without hacks that can (and have been/will be) broken with future software updates. If it was an open platform someone at the Mozilla Foundation would have already started an official Firefox on iPhone/iPod touch project.

Its a real shame that so many web sites are badly coded. Thats the unfortunate source of the problem. That and crappy ActiveX object nonsense.

Windows Mobile has been out for how long and Mozilla is only now getting into the browser business with Mobile FF. What makes you think they would be any quicker for the iPhone? Its only been out for four months FFS.

Mobile Firefox may not be any more successful with those sites when compiled for the ARM processor. Safari for mac renders differently than Safari for windows, thats down to the platform, not because both are called Safari. The same kinds of issues may occur on the phone.

Quote of the day here!!!

Win Mobile has had a couple of alternate browser options for quite a while now. Funny thing is, that when I did a firmware update, they all still worked!

At least there is a reason to now create a mobile ff, where as with the iPhone, there is zero reasons to event think about one. And who is the more monopolistic company?
