Hello - I've just started using Transmission on my mac's. (3 seperate computers) i found when setting up my router each of these three computers has their own individual IP address. THis is normal correct? so when i set up these computers i should just allow the same "PORT" that I am using on my router for Transmission 3 seperate times for the three seperate computeres?
thanks
Correct. Each machine should have its own IP address (think of it like the individual addresses for each house in a street - they have to be unique so the post gets to the right house). Your router will also have an IP address. Each IP address must be unique.
If you are using dynamic IP addressing then your router will be handing out IP addresses to each machine as they request them (when they connect to the network for the firs time). These IP addresses usually expire after a period of time, at which point the machine will request and receive another one. If you are using a static IP addressing scheam then the IP addresses have to be maually set up by you.
The port on the other hand should be identical for each machine.
