I've had a stalking issue (long story) so I bought a new phone, made a new $%#%# email, registered a new Apple ID-- everything.

Obviously cuz I had old files I needed, I copied everything on external drives and moved them to my new computer. In some computers, I wiped out all the data and then reset the device.

To my shock just now, as of 20 #@%#@$@ minutes ago. I realized that although I have TWO DIFFERENT ICLOUD ACCOUNTS-- a document I'm working on in Numbers is synced on both Apple iClouds. How is that possible? I checked the settings on 3 different devices.

I then realized that under the iCloud folder of my older phone and account, all my new iCloud folders are there!?!?!? How?

The two Apple ID emails are different; however, the documents are synced on both. It even says on the device with my old ID that "last modified at the exact time I modified it on the new device".

I'm just emotionally devastated. I really am. I don't know what else to do. I feel like my existence was hijacked and I can't even protect myself. And right now this is making me feel miserable cuz I literally spent DOUBLE the amount of money I paid for each service to start from scratch. Literally, buying the same apps, movies, shows, music... and now I realize for nothing?

Can someone plz help.

I'm so sorry to hear that this happened when you were hoping to be free of the problem. Are you asking for help how to delete your original Apple ID? If so, I'm including the support article link here.

I don't know of any Apple device that allows access to two iCloud accounts simultaneously... so my first question would be did you actually sign in to the new Apple ID as your iCloud account rather than just your App Store account?

Nicho. I don't think the device is signing in two IDs, no. I think maybe I overlooked something, I really don't know.

When I registered for a new ID, I signed it to the App Store with my new ID.

I'll try to explain better

Ipad (with old Apple ID)
- Under settings => iCloud = it says my old Apple ID
- Under App Store sign in = old Apple ID

New iPhone + Mac
Under settings + App Store = New Apple ID

But when I check the iCloud Files in the old iPad and iPhone it's showing me the exact folders in the NEW iCloud folder.
How I don' know.

If I do as WildSky suggested and delete my old AppleID permanently, would that solve the problem?

It should solve the problem, but read through those instructions very carefully first. If you are unsure at any step, you can ask here (or of course Apple Support).

I'm almost wondering if Numbers "thinks" both Apple IDs are using the collaboration feature somehow. It's not a feature I know much about and I think you have to deliberately share the document with someone to collaborate. Other than that, I'm stumped as to how it happened.

Hang in there and let us know how it goes.

It may also delete all of the files you want, if you're not actually signed in to the new Apple ID 'correctly'. But if it's some kind of permissions error, I guess it should.

First go to Settings on your iPhone, and go to the "Apple ID, iCloud" etc bit right at the top. Underneath your name should appear the Apple ID you are signed in to.

Scroll down to "Media & Purchases". Is there a different Apple ID listed underneath (in grey)?

And one more thing: it might be helpful to give it a little time to let others respond too with possible explanations and maybe more suggestions.

This has been a problem of long-standing. Many years ago my kids and spouses docs and itunes tunes were showing up on my Mac.
I think I finally traced the issue to an iTunes sign-in of my wife’s id on my mac. It somehow fused itunes songs and some other stuff. It took YEARS to seperate our stuff. I discussed it with Apple support but they said there is no fix.

I don’t use iTunes on my macs anymore, I use iCloud as my hub.

But I tell people to NEVER EVER allow a sign into someone else’s account on your mac in itunes or anywhere else. Same goes goes for a second apple id of your own. There is some set of keys related to the apple id and they can get mixed if they come in contact. That is what I infer.

Jim, thank you so much for taking the time to write this. Everyone here was so kind and helpful. Now that I think about it, I did try my best to keep the two IDs separate, but with everything cloud based now something must have slipped from my part. I can imagine how frustrating it must have been especially with having many people using their devices and getting their files overlap. Again, thank you so much.

Thank you guys. I left the forum for a while as Wildsky suggested to hopefully get more replies and that didn't disappoint. All your answers were valuable. Have a great day.
