Different RAM in new iMac 24"?

I was talking to an Apple Store assistant about current Macbook Pro RAM being the same as the RAM in the Alum iMac, and he said that's no longer the case. He said the new iMac (we were talking about the new 3+ghz model) uses a different RAM to the models just replaced. I questioned this so he asked one of the Genius people and they agreed with him.

Can anyone confirm this? I've received misinformation from the local Apple Store about RAM before, so I'd like to double-check on here).

Thanks for that. Should I take it that the Macbook Pro DDR2-667 will work with the new iMac, but that it might not give prime performance compared to the DDR2-800?

I suppose what I'm asking is whether someone who already has a spare 4gb of DDR2-667 should be thinking about buying the other one for some kind of improved performance?
