What ever happened to the other mac companies like Motorola StarMax, Daystar, Power Computing, Radius, Umax. Because when I'm going mac shopping I don't have any of a choose in the type of brand computer I want.

Are there going to be any alternatives for mac in the future?

The Mac clones have been dead since Apple stopped licensing the needed hardware (the Mac ROM) in 1997. They will not be coming back either.

Man, you missed 10 years of history. The Mac clones were killed off because they were stealing sales from Apple and not increasing the user base of the Mac.

Some other things you may want to know are there is a new MacOS, it's called MacOS X, Macs went from using PowerPC 601, 603 and 604 processors to using G3, G4 and G5 PowerPCs and... wait for it... Apple is now using Intel Processors.
