Where I am
Over the past few weeks, when I wake in the middle of the night, I try to look at the time on my iPhone 17 Pro Max screen, and it is difficult to see (not fully legible). The device is in 'Sleep mode' (till 05:55).

Yes, I do wear glasses (0.25 prescription). However, prior to iOS26, I could see the time clearly while the iPhone was in sleep mode.
Is there a setting I can change to assist with this issue?

Try putting it in Standby Mode (horizontal) overnight. Then all you need to do is tap the screen or the table it’s on and the clock time will appear quite large. There are a selection of options to swipe through to get one that pleases you.
