I am really bummed out because my digital Vivicam 3710 camera won't show up on the desktop of my new MacBook so I can't import my pictures. NOW I find out it isn't listed in the "compatibles"! BUMMER!!! The camera is Mac OS X compatible on my now defunct mac so I assumed it would be on this system, as well. Not!!!

I'm betting there are no fixes either--grrrrr.

Unlike Windows, OSX doesn't show PTP cameras as drives, but applications like iPhoto/Image Capture should still be able to see them. I assume it's just using JPEGs rather than some sort of RAW format, so the images would be "compatible."

If that isn't working for you, check your camera and see if there is an option to change it to a "Mass Storage Device" rather than using PTP and then it should show up on the desktop.

At worst, you could always get a card reader.

Imge Capture is your friend, even if your camera doesn't showup on your desktop, start image capture and it'll 'see' it and you can import.
