I was wondering who knows exactly what digital copies will allow streaming/download from iCloud? Do any of the "ultraviolet" codes work? It will dictate how I purchase my media. For example, I want to buy 21 Jump Street. It's on iTunes right now, which would make the purchase downloadable through iCloud. However, the bluray/digital copy combo will be the same price and I'd rather have a blu ray and it availabe in iCloud. Does anyone know the exact terms?

It differs from movie to movie. iTunes does generally not cooperate with Ultraviolet at this point. However, some studios (e.g. Paramount) give codes that are Ultraviolet- and iTunes-codes at the same time (and sometimes work for even more services; e.g. the Trueblood Season 4 Blu-ray includes codes that work for VUDU/Ultraviolet, iTunes, and Amazon Instant Video). If a digital copy is iTunes compatible, there is usually an iTunes logo on the back cover of the disc.

I would like to know about this one too! Does 21 Jumpstreet have an iTunes code?

It's not so much the iTunes compatibility I want because I realistically dont want to rip every movie I buy and have it take up local space. I just want the purchase recorded through iTunes so I can download if I want/use my Apple TV. This is something that needs to be fixed, all digital copies should be available in the cloud.

Well, they are. Unfortunately there are several different clouds right now (iTunes, Ultraviolet, Amazon, Keychest, ...). But it seems all the major studios (with the exception of Disney, who have their own system) are moving to Ultraviolet. More and more releases seem to be dropping the iTunes digital copies in favor of UV. It would be great if Apple would come around and allow linking UV to iTunes, so we could play back UV movies through the Apple infrastructure. Or maybe there could be a Flixster app for the ATV (the Flixster app for the iPad already allows streaming and downloading of UV movies).

i wouldnt mind using the UV system, ONLY if it were accessable thru apple tv.

if UV had its own app on apple tv ala netflix, i would start buying all the UV copies i could find.

There are some movies that do have iTunes digital copies. You have to look for it. And no, ultraviolet copies do not work with iTunes, don't bother trying.

And do take note, digital copies for iTunes are in SD only(all digital copies, it also means for DVD, or blue ray or whatever - it's all in SD). Not HD. I know, it sucks.
