Edit: I feel very foolish- I had the low light Zoom filter enabled via the triple click home button shortcut, something that carried over from my dead iPhone 6’s settings. I had completely forgotten about that and I guess I did it early on when playing around with the new solid state home button!

I have a new iPhone 8 and have found the screen to be very dim compared to other phones, such as my partner’s iPhone SE.

In order to compare them I ensured these settings were all off on both phones (where applicable): auto brightness, True Tone, night shift, reduce white point.

I then went into the display settings and turned the iPhone 8 to 100% brightness.
I put the iPhone SE next to it, went to the same screen and found that I could reduce its brightness all the way down to around 40-50% before it matched the perceived brightness of the iPhone 8. This is in a room with normal levels of light.

I understand there are variations in display brightness between different phone models and even within the same model, but this seems quite extreme. Is there a fault in my iPhone 8?

I wanted to gauge people on here’s opinion before looking into a replacement or fix etc. with the retailer or Apple.

Thanks
