Didn't know whether this went into Gaming or Programming, but I figured I'd toss it in here.

Has anyone here ever heard of/used dim3? I've been toying around with it lately, not seriously or anything, but I'm pretty impressed. Its basically a free 3D game creator/engine. The demos it comes with aren't very impressive, but I've found a few games made with it that are (like this one.)

Anyway, most of the game files are in XML with Javascript for scripting. For being free, its mighty impressive and I thought it deserved a mention here.

Yep. :D

While its no "Unity" (http://otee.dk/unity/) or Torque (garagegames.com), it is pretty good, as well as being easy on the wallet.

One problem I think is that people who may be drawn to it (due to it being free), are likely to be new to game programming and 3d programming, even with the help of an engine, IMHO is not too wise to start off with.

For those who want to make games, and don't mind cutting their teeth on 2D first, look at TBT Basic, which is now freeware (open source)

Carlos
