I have an imac G5, after I wake it from sleep, the screen appears at normal brightness, but half a second later, the screen is half the brightness.

Note that the brightness is still at 100% (pressing F15).

Now, sometimes when my screen is dim, I can get it back to full brightness by going to sleep and waking it up again, but it all seems very finicky.

Does anyone know what this issue is? Seems like software to me.

Thanks,
Wesley

I am not sure, but I was told that there might be an ambient light sensor in the system. Maybe someone can help you out with a yes or a no.

Never does it just happen during normal usage, only after putting it to sleep.
(or possibly screensaver as well, dunno). Sometimes it doesn't happen at all, so it's inconsistent.

I tried booting from CD and had no problems there.
