Is there something where I can disable auto lock when in certain apps? I.E. I am in the maps app and want the screen to stay lit until I close the maps? I am new to the jailbreaking scene so sorry if this has been asked(I searched too)

Not that I know of.
Install SBsettings and you can toggle the autolock switch on/off whenever you want with a swipe of your finger.

Some apps, most notably GPS navigation apps, do this. So, it is possible within the apps. Perhaps an enterprising app writer will come up with one where the user can select programs to utilize this.
