Is there a way to REALLY disable auto-play for videos on Safari? I've tried all the usual tricks: Accessibility -> Motion.. Doesn't work at all!
On Mac I have the same problem. I've tried "never auto play" on all websites and also "disallow inline video" on Debug menu, nothing works! Am I really the only one having this issue?

I'm still having this question. Why on earth doesn't the Accessibility option (iOS) work?? Or the settings that I described on the Mac?

aren't the video's triggered by javascript on the sites sometimes to autoplay?

I don't know about that, the setting seems to work on some websites but usually doesn't.
I think that videos can be played in a couple of ways.
  1. The user can click on the play icon.
  2. There is a parameter on the video tag that can enable autoplay. This is probably easy for a browser to block.
  3. Javascript on the page can cause the video to play. That may be tricker to block. I don't know how successful this is.

Hello
Is there any news on this?
Disabling JavaScript stops videos from autoplaying but doing that renders some web pages useless

Some people says that the StopTheMadness Safari plug-in works

I'm still hoping for a solution to this. Safari is the buggiest browser that's ever existed! Why do they even offer these options in Accessibility when they never actually work?
