Is there a way to disable my MBP from automatically booting up if I lift the lid/display? I prefer for it only to boot up when I press the power button.

On some Intel-based Macs there is terminal command to turn it off. If the option exists for Apple Silicon, it’s never been found. :/

yes, but only if your mbp is intel.
enter this command into terminal:
sudo nvram AutoBoot=%00
put your password and it wont start again.
have to press power to start it.
