Disable Edge Updater notifications?

I get these notifications multiple times every session I'm using Edge.
I turned the Edge Updater off in Settings but it seems like it's turning itself back on and brings those notifications back.

Other than simply not using Edge, does anyone have an idea how to fix this?

Delete the contents of ~/Library/Microsoft/EdgeUpdater and lock the folder.
