Edit: Sorry typo in header, meant disable back camera***

Hi, my phone is kinda messed up from being dropped, and the back camera has been messed up for awhile (weird, pinkish colors, etc) and finally has stopped working. Problem is, it is causing any apps related to the camera to freeze, and I can't switch to the front camera, which works fine. It's annoying because I cannot use apps like Snapchat, etc (they freeze up). The benefits of my jailbreak out weight going to the Apple store and getting a new phone.

I was wondering if there is a tweak or a simple method to simply disable the back camera (or better, default to the front camera first).

Thanks

I've tested this on my iPT4G with a hacked /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard/N81AP.plist (basically, I've set "still-camera" and "video-camera" NO, while not touching "front-facing-camera")

The file must be named something else on the iPhone5. (Can't test it now as mine is still being repaired.)

The results after a reset:

- the stock Camera app became hidden, not even Spotlight finds it

AppStore apps:

- some AppStore apps (e.g., Retro Camera; CameraXE) don't get installed at all because of the "missing" camera
- Skype works just fine with the front camera (can be switched explicitly to use the back one too)
- Camera Plus and Camera+ doesn't open the back camera - it can only import from the Camera Roll
- "Camera!" starts with the back camera, even if you previously switch to the front from inside
- "Night Effect" starts with the back camera

All in all, if the lack of the stock Camera app and most? all? third-party apps (except for Skype) non-functioning isn't a problem, just edit the capabilities entry.
