Hello,

I am getting rather tired of iOS telling me every day on a few devices that it wants to update, with the only options being to do it now or schedule it for later (when I can then select "Remind me later").

Seriously, is there no way to get this thing to stop? It always pops up at a bad time.

I can't update my work phone since the apps we use haven't been verified. It's becoming a problem so the whole company is likely moving away from Apple phones.

Thanks in advance if there's a trick to disable this!

Have you tried checking the manage storage section of general settings to see if the update has been downloaded already and delete it from there if it has been? As I recall the pop-ups are generally to prompt you once the update has been already automatically downloaded, and deleting it should stop them.

First turn off wifi, then delete the update from settings, general, storage. That will get rid of the pop up ad.

My mom has an iPhone 6 Plus. The software on that iPhone is 8.4. Other than that badge, I don't see any popup during 1.5 month-use of that device.
Perhaps you need to delete the downloaded package, and see if software update request disappear.

I deleted the download and it should go away (it prompted me three times today). The thing is it just redownloads the update if I'm on wifi while charging.

Guess I'll have to remember to avoid plugging it in while wifi is enabled. Not exactly ideal but it looks to be this way by design.

Thanks everyone.

As I recall if you deleted the downloaded update it shouldn't re-download it automatically again.

You can do it with Apple configurator 2 but it would require iOS 9 to do so.

It doesn't, but, when the next OS comes out, if eligible, it will automatically download that one. I have 8.2 on my iphone 5, it had 9.2 waiting on deck, I deleted it, then when 9.3 came out, it automatically downloaded it and I got the popup. I repeated the delete process, and when 9.3.1 came out it happened again.

Sure, for newer updates it can happen like that.
