Is there anyway to disable iphoto from automaticly loading when I plug a memory card into my computer. I use photo shop and a different file manager for my photos but, my wife uses I photo so I do not want to remove it.

Take a look in System Prefs> CD&DVD's

There's an option to either ignore CD & DVD insertions alternatively choose the program you use.

I believe this'll only change your own personal preferences - and not your wife's.

EDIT: Sorry just spotted that it's a memory card you're using - perhaps the same options work?

Yes, there's a way. Open up Image Capture. In Preferences > General, tell it "No application" for "When a camera is connected, open:".
