So having just bought new iMac, it of course came with Catalina preinstalled. So far, so good, however there is one nuisance that I would like to take care of. I shoot hundreds of RAW images. After I want to move them from SD to SSD or from SSD to Lightroom by dragging and dropping by hitting CMD+A, in Column view it automatically generates preview of all selected files which then results into spinning beach ball and delay. Is there any way to turn it off as it was on Mojave and before? So if I select 1 file I can see the preview, but if I select multiple files, I only see file icon?

I don't know how to make it automatically happen, but if you go to View > Hide Preview (or press Shift Command P), you can toggle the preview on and off.

Thanks for the tip but I was wondering more like terminal command or change of some parameter in finder.plist
