Does anyone know of any way to disable the wake-up swipe on the iPad? This is obviously a legacy item, as pocket wake-ups would be... unlikely... on a 9.5"x8.5" device. It would be much simpler if you just woke up the device and were back doing what you were before it went to sleep, but I can't seem to find an option on that.

No way to disable it that i am aware of. You might be able to do it on a jailbroken ipad but I don't know for sure.

No.

Thanks for the responses, didn't think I'd missed any settings, but figured i'd ask. I hope that Apple realizes that this is not a pocket device, and we don't need to be protected from accidentally using it, with an update that gives us this option. I'll try some posts in the apple forum as well in case one of them reads those...

On my jailbroken iPhone I installed "A Better Tap to Unlock." That replaces the swipe to unlock button with a tap to unlock button. I installed it on my iPad but it doesn't seem to be working yet. The "Swipe to unlock" button remains without the writing. Hopefully someone updates it to work on the iPad because for an instant on machine I shouldn't have to swipe to unlock the screen. It isn't accidentally being woken up while sitting on my coffee table or my desk like an iPhone might in a pocket.

Keyboard dock?

I'm not at home to check it out, but the keyboard dock wakes the iPad. I added the passcode before really starting to use the dock, but all I do is hit a key, type in the 4 digit code and off I go.

If I had the passcode shut off, it should just wake right up.

You probably aren't looking for this kind of hardware solution, but I don't have to swipe anything AFAIR with the keyboard dock.

There will be numerous options for this in the jailbreak community if the iPhone is any indication. I have a 'Shake to Unlock" on my iPhone which works great, but would not be great or even useable on the iPad, since the shake sensor is turned off or non-existent asaik.
