So i tried disabling the chime sound on boot through terminal command because i switch a lot between os x and windows, but after a few times , the sound returns... Any idea how to perma disable it?

I can't figure it out. For me it's just way too loud. I don't know how to turn the volume down so that the chime boot is quieter.

How old is your iMac? AFAIK all Macs since about 2008 or so link the chime volume to the volume on OSX. So if your computer is on mute, your chime will not play.
