So here's my question(s)..

I've searched high and low for answers regarding this, only to come up confused. I purchased a second-hand iphone 2g 8G model from a friend. I have ATT for a carrier before i purchased this phone. The first thing I did was jailbroke, unlocked it. After doing that, I installed a fake APN and 'HOOD' application. (this suppossedly has features that disable EDGE.)

My objective is to be able to use my phone for WIFI internet and not be charged for it at my house. That's really the only place i use internet on my phone. My question is simply this: If I have disabled EDGE through that program HOOD, and also set up a fake APN, will this give me the ability to do this?

Also how do i get ATT from seeing my phone as an iPhone? It used to register my old phone but now the new one comes up!
I appreciate advice!

Yes, wifi will still work even though you disabled edge.
AT&T can see what phone you use as soon as you put your sim in it, but that doesnt make a difference. They're not going to do anything.

ok that's a relief. I was worried they would see my iphone and try to hit me with a data package which i wouldn't use anyways. Thanks for the heads up!:D

I know it WILL work, I just want it to work not in conjunction with the EDGE network so as not to get charged for using wifi (which should be %*^&@ free anyways..) I was worried they would see my iphone and try to hit me with a data package which i wouldn't use anyways. Thanks for the heads up!:D
