Hi guys,

Hope you're well.
After years of not owning a mac and missing the OS I finally got myself an M1 13".
So far I love the machine but in Monterey it seems when you want to make your windows bigger it goes full screen.
Maybe it's me not being a native english speaker but googling I can't find a way to turn it off, probably not using the right keywords.
Is there a simple way to make sure it maximizes but doesn't go full screen mode?

Wish you all happy new year 🥳

If you double-click the top of the window of whatever you are in, it will expand that window to fit the screen, without going into proper full-screen (green button) mode.

I'd recommend you try an app called Magnet, which adds a whole lot of window re-sizing options with shortcuts (similar to Windows sizing options and layouts).

Thank you, I had no idea of this function! This will make it easier to work for me.

The feature changed a while ago. You now need to hold the Option key down when clicking the Green window widget, or double-click the window title bar. If you simply click and hold the same Green widget, you'll see some other options as well.
