I wanted to play around with disabling memory compression as I imagine this adds some CPU overhead. I'd like to leave swap enabled. I upgraded the SSD so swap to SSD should be pretty fast. You used to be able to disable memory compression from recovery with:

nvram boot-args=vm_compressor=1

The default value is 4. A value of 2 disables swap but leaves compression.

I tried a value of 1 but I am still seeing memory compression.

Anyone know how to do this properly on Big Sur?
