Is it possible to turn off the new click sound that sounds when haptic touch kicks in? I don’t mean the vibration itself but the sound that’s introduced in iOS 14. I know I can mute the phone and problem solved but I need the other sounds like ringtone etc.

I’ve tried disabling haptic touch in sounds but both haptic and annoying click sound persist when scrolling and long tapping links in Safari.

I’m pretty sure it’s a beta thing, as it has been present for me in the last two (maybe more?) betas. I don’t think it’s actually a sound, but more a click being made by the haptic engine. For the other betas where this has happened, the sound was gone with or by the gold master.

It's not a beta thing. Just updated to iOS 14 on my 11 Pro and now I can hear a click. If the phone is muted there's no click sound. So it's not the haptic engine. It's a sound for sure.
Really annoying!

It's actually always been there but it used to be at a much lower volume--low enough that the taptic sound was about the same if not louder than the haptic touch click.

I've always actually liked the sound and I'm happy it's actually audible now. It was actually a glass tap sound when iOS 13 first dropped and they changed it to this 'pop' sound.

On iOS 13.7 there's definitely no sound. If the phone is muted or unmuted makes no difference.
It would be great if there were a switch to enable or disable the click sound.
