Is there any way to disable the automatic "this website has an App suggestion" banner when browsing with Safari on iPad/iPhone?

To clarify I'm talking about if you use the safari browser, then go to a specific website (for example https://www.formula1.com) it will then show "this website has an App" or something along those lines above the Safari browser that you have to click away, if you're not interested or click to open up the App Store link.
Clearing out the cookies/temp. files makes that "banner" reappear again the next time you visit the website obviously.

I'm not talking about the Search/Siri suggestions.

Well, the formula1 page specifically seems to be done in a weir way, but usually those links to the App Store are made with a JSON file in either /apple-app-site-association or /.well-known/apple-app-site-association

There's no way of disabling the banners on device to my knowledge, but for a lot of sites, if you could intercept calls to those pages all deep linking between app and website would go away

Many thanks for the detailed and helpful reply, even though I was hoping for a simple “disable/off switch”.

Does this behavior (Mac OS App suggestions) also happen on MacOS Safari / Firefox Browsers and all or is it just an iOS/iPadOS thing?

This is why i very rarely use the web browser on my iphone because it is becoming very common place for popular webistes to have their own app and when your on the webiste that has an app associated to it, the app message appears, it's so annoying.

I find it super annoying too!
Obviously I'm neither the common or power user, but I prefer a capable web browser instead of countless Apps.

Does this behavior (App suggestions) also happen on MacOS device with desktop Safari / Firefox browsers or is it just an iOS/iPadOS thing?

It's just iOS - I don't even think it happens on the iPad anymore but I could be wrong

it still happens on iPadOS 13.7 too unfortunately.

Yeah sorry that was me being misinformed apparently; Only use a few select websites on my iPad; MacRumors, Anandtech, my own site... I think that's it.
Tested the formula1 page on iPadOS 14 and it still has the banner there too as well, yeah
