Hello all, I just bought an iPhone 3G S yesterday and am having some problems with voicemail. I would like to essentially disable visual voicemail, so that when I press the voicemail icon it automatically dials my voicemail box (works when I dial 1 from the keypad). Rather than setting up a visual voicemail password, etc. can anyone help with this?

I'm aware this is pretty much the OPPOSITE of the problems some people on the board are having (voicemail dialing normal voicemail instead of visual). Lol, but if anyone can help with this i would greatly appreciate it :]

my carrier is at&t if that helps.

I've called ATT and I've set up a normal voicemail box, and it works from the iphone if I dial "1." I'm just trying to make it so that pressing the voicemail button dials voicemail, rather than prompting a set-up for visual voicemail.

I'm having some trouble setting up VVM on my phone and I'm a bit confused. Does it come with the data plan or do I have to pay extra to use this feature? I've used Mroogle, Google, and even (gasp) the AT&T support site in an attempt to find the answer. I am befuddled.
