I've just upgraded to an M1 MBA and having weird audio issues with my LG 27MU88-W monitor. I use a USB-C cable and have a pair of Bose speakers plugged into the monitor - applications like Spotify and Zoom work fine but as soon as I go near web-based video conferencing like Google Meet it is a crap shoot if I have audio at all. Same issue across Chrome and Safari, I went back to my old MBP at seems to be the same, hence I think the issue started with Big Sur.

I appear to be able to resolve by plugging the cable in and out and restarting the browser but if my MBP sleeps at all during the day I have to unplug and plug back in. It's an absolute pain as my biggest client uses Meet and always seems to catch me out.

Has anyone seen similar?

I've found that Google Meet doesn't always track the system audio preferences; it seems to sometimes get confused when the device ordering changes. I use Google Meet every day, and I typically go into the Meet settings before my first meeting and verify all the audio & video devices are set correctly. I've heard the same from other Meet users on Mac. Hope that helps!
