I was planning my iPhone 12 Pro purchase tomorrow on the Apple Military/Veteran story (10% discount) when I noticed that you lose the discount when you select to activate on any carrier. Only option to keep the discount is to select "sim free activate later", anyone have any experience how that process works?

Not sure why. Maybe they incur some extra fees with carrier activation.

They're totally unnecessary to buy anyways. Just get the sim free model then pop your sim card in. You should be good to go.
