Hi everyone - something odd just happened on my iPad and I was wondering if anyone else had encountered this. I got a new mini 4 the other day, and decided to do a clean install of iOS 9.2. This meant that I would have to manually copy over about 60 PDFs and epub files that I had on my previous iPad, which I did via Airdrop from my Mac. Everything seemingly went fine - the files transferred over without any obvious issues, I organized everything into categories into the iBooks app, and I forgot about it for a few hours. Then, when I went to read one a few hours later, I was surprised to find that none of them were in iBooks any longer. Literally none - the only things left in the app were my iBooks-purchased books, but other than that, all epubs and PDFs that I'd just airdropped over that afternoon were just gone. They all literally just disappeared.
I hadn't plugged my iPad into my computer at all in the intervening hours, and when I plugged it in later, the option to "sync over wifi" wasn't checked, so I'm fairly certain that my iPad hadn't been trying to sync with anything before I noticed the files missing. It is just so bizarre and I can't figure out how 60 files can just disappear like that.
Luckily, I had them all backed up on my computer, so I ended up plugging in my iPad and syncing the files over that way (don't know why I didn't just do that to begin with!) So far, they haven't disappeared again. But, has anyone else ever seen something like this? I've been using iPads for years now and never have myself...
