What ever happened to plastic/vinyl keyboard covers and monitor covers? They kind of just quietly disappeared off the store shelves like typewriters and vcr's .

Yes you can probably still find them if you look around but they are pretty much non existent compared to what they used to be.

I remember back in middle school I would get reamed for leaving a computer without making sure they keyboard cover was on and the monitor had its cover on.

You know, just the other day I was thinking about how my old TV at home when I was a kid always had a nice doilly on top, but now with the new LCD and Plasma screens, you can't find any doillies narrow enough to sit on top.

And remember those foamy vinyl blocks that taped to the telephone handset so that you could hold it with your shoulder? Try finding one of those for a Razr or iPhone!

We should start a site for this stuff... GeezerGadgets.com!

I think those were holdovers from typewriter days. Your typewriter might last 20 years, so you have to protect it from damage. Now people replace computers every 3 years or so, so there's no point in buying a cover for it. It's obsolete before it physically wears out.

Oh yeah. And that could even be translated as a social commentary.

I still remember when the TV controller was tethered to the TV...man, I'm old :(

I remember seeing those. I always wondered what the point of that was. Kind of defeats the purpose.

I actually might have a need for one of those, for a co worker who's constantly on the phone, she gets neck pains. Some companies still use decades old equipment

I think that's the gap that bluetooth headsets are supposed to fill. :)
