I've seen a couple people voice that they've experienced this problem but I have yet to come across a solution.

I am simply trying to share my itunes libraries between my PC (Vista) and my new iMac. I set both computers to share and look for shared libraries. My PC detects and can play the mac library fine. The problem is that the Mac only occasionally detects the PC library. And, IF it detects it, I can only listen to about 30 seconds of a song before the shared library disappears.

I know I could try the new Home Sharing option but I haven't heard great things about it, nor do I have an itunes store account. I would prefer a solution to the traditional shared library option.

Well you're smart to stay away from home sharing, i had three hooked up and using it and 1 of three would see the shares. So i did every fix under the sun to fix it and it is just on its on time table. Wish apple would fix it :(

Disappearing shared library

I've had a similar problem, but mine starts right from the beginning. I'm trying to link up a new Apple TV to my iTunes account on my MacBook Pro, so I turn on home sharing from the advanced menu in iTunes, but then as soon as I click done, the Shared icon disappears! It therefore doesn't allow me to link up with anything (Apple TV and Remote App for iPhone 4).
