Disappointed by the new Pro displays

Okay, it's nice they went from 10.5 inches to 11. But still an LCD.....er, excuse me.....still a Liquid Retina screen.

Also STILL 264 ppi. Revolutionary in 2012......ancient in 2018.

I'm probably sticking with my 10.5 inch Pro. Or getting a Galaxy Tab S4---10.5 inch, OLED, 288 ppi.
 
Same displays as prior ipad pros sucks...the galaxy tab s4 has a much better display...based on my experience

It's a non-issue imo. If you're doing anything creative on it (like photoprocessing with Affinity Photo) you'll be better off with the LCD anyway.
 
Okay, inexperienced and a novice here... When doing regular stuff like movies, which seems 4K from the itunes will be a nogo, internet browsing, face time, and other normal-user stuff... is there a significant detriment/lack-of user experience?
 
Yeah, this was the biggest downer for me.
How about the magic metalurgist dude making a new never before seen Aluminum product, throw some time at making an affordable OLED screen that can be used on iPads.
It is what is keeping this from being a game changer.
It's a Pro product, right?

Significant is subjective. But OLED would definitely be better for movies than an IPS screen due to its vastly superior contrast. Same thing with reading E-books. OLED has inkier blacks for print and also doesn't emit as much blue light as LCD--so likely less eyestrain. Also in the print world 300ppi is considered the minimum for books--and it's what most modern E readers are--so at least getting closer to 300ppi would be beneficial.

Not a single mention of Dolby Vision or HDR anywhere with the new iPad Pros. Is this a joke Apple?

Will definitely skip this one.

Would have preferred they finally up the "up to 10 hour battery life" since the first iPad, right? With technological improvements, we should have at least 12-15 at this point.
 
The iPhone XS Max has ruined my 10.5 Pro display. It's not that it's not OLED, the screen looks almost blurry at that PPI to me now. I envy those who still think it's okay! As I noticed no PPI increase in the new iPad Pro displays, that just makes it a complete pass for me (the prices don't help, either).

I think it is Amazing
120Hz ProMotion
New Wide Color Gamut
HDR10
Apple pencil support

Keeping the same resolution is a advantage because it will make the A12X a beast fast.

Next years model mark my works will bring a OLED Display. And an extra $200 cost.

Looks like there was a bigger jump from the 1. gen iPP to the 2. gen as it brought Wide Color, True Tone and ProMotion. This time they only cut the corners (which is really bad for my remote work with Windows VMs) from the same old LCD display....

Ditto. I used to think my Pro looked good until I got my Max. I think it's the combination of OLED and pixel density which makes the Pro look blurry and dull by comparison.
 
Placing the Tab S4 next to my Pro 10.5” in a dark room was so insanely shocking I’ve never been able to watch videos the same way on my iPad. I’m always looking at the backlight.

Using a XS Max has made the Tab S4’s text look blurry. 1st world problems! But can y’all just imagine a 500 PPI OLED iPad Pro? Holy freak that would be sick!

They keep the battery life intentionally vague so when they make devices thinner they can still say "all day" battery life.

I've seen a progressive decrease in battery life going from iPad 4 -> iPad Air -> iPad Air 2/Pro 9.7.

Thus far, best battery life I've seen with my usage is iPad 4 and iPad 5th gen (2017, 9.7"). Probably the iPad 6th gen, too, but we don't have one of those in our household.
 
Think I save the €2500 (for a full blown 12.9 iPP with all accessories) for the next generation with OLED or micro LED....

iPad Pro is meant as a productivity device first. That means Apple's first consideration is to maximize viewing angle, brightness for outdoor viewing, and minimize color shift at off angles. That rules out OLED.

I'm on MobileRead and honestly, lots of folks don't care about ppi. Quite a lot are pefectly happy with basic Kindle (167ppi) or PW2 (212ppi).

1000X better on the Tab S4. It made my Pro look horrible in comparison. It’s the same story with the XS/XS Max against any LCD phone in a dark room. But I took the Tab S4 back in the end.
 
The iPad pros displays look fantastic. I don’t know what your taking about, and the 120mhz is soo smooth. Sorry but there is no competition for Apple as far as tablets go. Android tablets are garbage.
