This whole Mountain Lion launch has been a mess. MOst are still waiting for their codes to redeem their downloads.. And us rMBP users are still waiting for our Power Nap update.. Not to mention the lag in higher resolutions.

Come on Apple, I've always held you SO high.. This shouldn't have been such a mess. :(

I'm not the only one having lag issues with the Retina MBP, many of us are and we still didn't get the update for Power Nap.. My two main issues right now. Plus the big issue with the redeeming codes is affecting a pretty large group.

From the posts on the news story on the front page about Mountain Lion, it sounds like most of the people in the thread now have codes that work and are downloading or have already downloaded it. It sucks that it was such a mess, and it was a big mistake on Apple's part, but it sounds like things are pretty much taken care of now.

Good to know.

Patiently waiting for my code...

still waiting for my code too.

the fact that i just got an email from Apple is hopeful (but it wasn't my code, it was an ad to try to get me to buy the macbook pro i already have...)
..tells me that there is something going on up in there in the Apple core

Reading the post I actually see that most are still waiting... 30+ hours after they submitted their claim.

I got two emails from apple today...one for a new macbook retina and the other to tell me to go to the apple store to buy mountain lion.

Now, if they don't think I have a macbook, why send me an add to buy Mountain Lion? Or, if they sell me a new macbook, it will have ML pre-installed.

Someone needs to talk to this Tim Cook fellow

All the posts from the last 3 hours or so are people saying that their codes are working and they're downloading ML. I'm sure there's still some people that haven't received their codes yet, as it's going to take a bit of time to sort things out. But Apple is obviously sending out working codes now. Like I said, yes it sucks for you guys, and I understand that. But there's a light at the end of the tunnel now.

Yesterday morning I found out that ML came out, so I took my MacBook to work, gave no more than two or three clicks and before lunch time I had a new OS running smoothly on my laptop, with all my settings and programs as they were.

Thinking about other experiences that I had with installing (some other) operating systems which were something like: go-to-the-shop-and-buy-OS + backup programs + install OS + fix-whatever-doesn't-work + reinstall-all-programs, and considering the technological challenge of giving me and a few more people around the world at the same time (at the launch day) such a smooth experience - I think Apple is doing fine, despite any problems that occurred, nobody's perfect.

I had a slow download, then some trouble making a bootable USB drive to do a clean install with. After that I had a fairly large amount of work setting up all my programs. I run deep freeze on my mac, so I have to do all my setup before I lock it down, but I managed to get it all done in a day. Now when it comes time to do a clean install of my local LAMP server it takes days to get everything working right, and with windows it manages to find little updates that it forgot about for up to a week after a clean install, and I never get sick of tracking down all of the drivers that I need. This, yes this went swimmingly I think.
