2.4GHz T7700 Intel Core 2 Duo
6GB DDR2-667MHz Ram
320GB 7200RPM Hard Drive

So wait a tick, is the processor soldered in? it would be bad a$$ if it was like the mini and I could find a faster penryn processor for my iMac.
 
Oh I don't mind the 3 hours it took to completely remove the thermal gel for the Radeon's memory chips.

Would explain why my dad's iMac kept overheating and creating artifacts. Now the GPU runs at a cool 25 deg C along with the CPU. Maximum load only reaching 39 deg C currently.

Furthermore, just taking the heatsink off voids warranty. So since we forgot to buy AppleCare after our 1st year is up, might as well.

The CPU is removable.

did you re-apply thermail paste or something? cos i have a gfx overheat problem with my imac core duo. might do it myself

Yeah. I cleaned everything off and redid the thermal paste. I must admit, the iMac was probably the most hardest system I've ever taken apart.
