Disassembly - Really need your help

I just got my Mac Pro (bought off of e-bay). The original owner upgraded the RAM and Video Card. Anyway, When it arrived I heard the sound of a screw "floating" around inside the chassis. I opened it and tried to gently coax it out of its hiding place, but no luck.

I fear it might be lodged under the motherboard, under the heat sink & fan assembly or underneath the area at the bottom where the RAM is. I am dying to turn this thing on, but I don't want to short something out because of the screw.

Can anyone help me find the disassembly instructions or offer some advice. Thank You.

i checked them out, but they don't have one for mac pro from what i could see. but thanks.

ok. i finally managed to get it out after twisting it and turning it and gently shaking it on and off for the last 2.5 hours. i got lucky because the disassembly i was mentioning is no joke.

i feel ripped right now.

Did you figure out where the screw is from? I'd be going nuts knowing my perfect Mac Pro has a missing screw somewhere.

you ask a good question. it doesn't look like any of the screws inside of the mac pro. the only idea i had was that it came off of the 7300gt that he pulled when he upgraded to x1900xt.

No, that should not be the case. I originally had the 7300, and upgraded to the 1900, and there are no loose screws involved.

One of the screws from the hard drive sleds perhaps? The unused ones are glued in pretty good until they are popped out, but it's possible one could slip out.

how does the stock 7300gt fasten to the case? the x1900 has a little strip with 2 spring-loaded screws that tighten it into place. however, there aren't any holes for installing another video card to slots 3 & 4. Is it because no screws are needed and the strip holds everything down?

yea, that's how the case works, not just the x1900, the little spring-loaded strip holds down the PCIe cards...
